The Idea of Social Media


The hype of social media was like the story of Promised Land. Everyone wants to go there but only few of them really know the way. The rest are like running in circle, purely wasting their time.

I was writing about a good sample of social media failure on my other blogs. It is obvious that many marketers are still stuck in their own word of ‘advertising’. When they come to the gate of social media, that word becomes a boomerang for them. They spent many hours advertising their products on social media and get nothing in return. 

Social media is not advertising media. The idea of social media has never changed since it was launched, to be more social.

By being social, you can start to communicate with your networks. If you’re good in building the communication, you will gain trust from your networks. When you get trusted, you can do a lot of things, including marketing your products. And believe me this method will generates better results than the old and boring method, advertising.

That is the idea of social media.
